(Well, it's the end of the month, and this will be my last entry. Thank you for letting me share some photos with you all.)
Sometimes when folks come in the house, they worry about our cats. They are sure the dogs are going to hurt them. HA! The truth is that both our dogs were pretty much raised by cats. Sam, a 12 year old tabby and Henry, a year and a half year old Cardigan Corgi play the most.
Who starts it? It's about fifty-fifty. I've seen Henry having a nice snooze and Sam will pounce on him and take off running. But other times, Henry will waylay Sam who is just walking through the room.
Now, you need to understand that most of these confrontations including the cat Sam sounding like he is either being murdered, or sitting on a fence somewhere howling because he can smell a cat in heat. You wouldn't believe the racket. I guess that's why visitors are convinced he is being mauled. It gets so loud that I have to holler at both of them and smack my hands to tell them to cut it out. Naturally they both look at me with the "who me?" look.
What you can't see here is a lot of wrestling and pouncing that was way to fast for me and the camera to capture without it being a blur, but trust me, they were really going at it.
This particular fracas was started by Sam, I guess he was bored. He pounced on Henry and then laid down like "I didn't do it, what are you looking at me for."
Henry was startled for just a few seconds and and scoped out the situation. Then decided to play the tough guy.
Sam decided to take the initiative because Henry was already laying down and made his approach, demanding immediate surrender.
Henry was having none of that and tried to act fearsome!
Then, Henry found his courage and leaped up to make his challenge!
"Oh come on, Sam," said Henry. "I'm just a wee bairn, surely you aren't afraid of a youngster like me?"
But a noise or presence interrupted their duel and both animals turned to see what happened?
Sam and Henry decided to pretend that they had not been caught acting like children...casual was the order of the moment.
After the interruption, Henry decided to play docile and see if he could entice Sam to play some more. Sam went into grooming mode and was cleaning Henry's face....and had a comment to make.
All the activity had attracted the old man, Tucker, and Sam decided that he had enough and left. He didn't want to acknowledge that he had actually been playing with a child. After all, he had helped raise old Tucker, he needed to maintain some dignity.
