'American Horror Story' season 3 spoilers: Taissa Farmiga returns

The second season of the television horror drama "American Horror Story" just finished airing days ago, but show creator Ryan Murphy is already giving out details about season three. On Friday, Jan. 25, Entertainment Weekly reported that actress Taissa Farmiga, who portrayed the loner Violet Harmon in season one, was returning to the hit FX series. Farmiga did not appear in the second season. The third season is expected to air in the fall of 2013.
Murphy had the following to say about Farmiga's role in the new season:
I missed her this season. There wasn’t really a role for her. I feel very protective of her and I didn’t want her to go back into the loony bin—it was too dark. So I thought well ‘I want Taissa to be one of the leads next year.’ I called her up and pitched her the character for the season and she loved it and she said, ‘Yes let’s do it.’ So we’re in negotiations for her to headline season 3.
Farmiga starred with Evan Peters and Jessica Lange in the first season, "American Horror Story: Murder House," and both actors will also be appearing in the third season. Sarah Paulson, who portrayed Lana Winters in season two is also confirmed to return.
The horror thriller is known for creating a new mini series for each season instead of having continuous stories and characters. The first season followed a family who moved from Boston to Los Angeles and were the victims of a haunted house. The second season, "American Horror Story: Asylum," followed the lives of patients in an insane asylum in 1965. Murphy is known for keeping the show very secretive and is currently no new information about a possible setting or plot line.
